Roland Lundy, Partner

Roland Lundy, a 28-year veteran of the publishing and entertainment industries, serves as a partner leading both the Media and Non Profit practices.  Mr. Lundy is actively engaged in executive and senior level assignments nationally for a wide range of private, public, venture-backed, and private equity-backed companies.  He is also involved in business development and client management for the firm.

Prior to joining The Buffkin Group, Mr. Lundy was the President and CEO of Word Entertainment, a $130 million Christian media company.  Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Word was the home to such artists as Amy Grant, Sandi Patty, Point of Grace and the Veggie Tales children’s video series.

Mr. Lundy’s business career began at Word in the early 70’s as a telephone sales representative.  Before becoming CEO of Word, Inc. in 1989, he held positions in marketing, promotion, sales and distribution and eventually became Executive Vice President of the music division.  While president, he managed the sale of Word from ABC/CapCities to Thomas Nelson Publishers in 1992 and moved the company from Dallas to Nashville, Tennessee.

In 1993, Mr. Lundy was responsible for consolidation of all the music assets from Thomas Nelson and Word into what is now known as Word Entertainment.  While a part of Thomas Nelson, he grew Word revenues from $72M to over $100M.  In 1997, Mr. Lundy managed the sale of Word from Thomas Nelson to Gaylord Entertainment.

Mr. Lundy successfully managed the integration of Word into very diverse cultures through two acquisitions while continuing to attract top artistic and creative talent as well as retaining key personnel through each acquisition.  With 15 years of executive management experience and over 28 years of industry relationships Mr. Lundy is positioned to not only lead the Media/Publishing and Non-Profit practice but to have a significant impact on the clients we serve.

Mr. Lundy currently serves on the board of the American Red Cross, Nashville Chapter and the Gospel Music Trust Fund.  He previously was the President of the Gospel Music Association Board of Directors.  Mr. Lundy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from Baylor University.  He was a four-year baseball letterman and Assistant Coach for one season.  He and his wife Sarah reside in Brentwood, TN.  He has two grown children, Rob and Jessica.
